WordPress Integration
Connect your WordPress site to publish articles directly from Rankfender.
Overview
The WordPress integration allows you to publish AI-generated articles directly from Rankfender to your WordPress site. Once connected, articles created through the Content Planner can be sent to WordPress with a single click, complete with categories, featured images, and meta information.
Setup Steps
Step 1: Download the Plugin
Download the Rankfender WP Plugin v1.3.3 ZIP file from the Integrations page in your project settings. The plugin file is a standard WordPress plugin archive that can be installed on any self-hosted WordPress site running version 5.0 or later.
Step 2: Install and Activate
In your WordPress admin panel, navigate to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin. Select the downloaded ZIP file and click Install Now. Once the installation completes, click Activate to enable the plugin.
Step 3: Generate API Token
Back in Rankfender, navigate to Project Settings > Integrations > WordPress and click Generate Token. Rankfender generates a unique 64-character API token that authenticates your WordPress site. Copy this token immediately, as it will only be shown once.
Warning: Regenerating the API token invalidates the current one. If you regenerate a token, you must update the token in your WordPress plugin settings, or the connection will break.
Step 4: Connect
In your WordPress admin panel, go to the Rankfender plugin settings page. Paste the 64-character API token into the token field and click Test Connection. If the connection is successful, you will see a confirmation message.
After Connection
- Connection Status — A green "Connected" badge appears next to the WordPress integration confirming an active connection.
- WordPress Site URL — Set or update the URL of your WordPress site.
- Active/Inactive Toggle — Toggle the integration on or off without disconnecting.
- Auto-Fetched Categories — Rankfender automatically retrieves your WordPress categories.
Troubleshooting
If the Test Connection fails, verify the following:
- The API token was copied correctly without extra spaces or characters.
- The Rankfender plugin is activated in WordPress.
- Your WordPress site is publicly accessible (not behind a maintenance mode or firewall).
- The token has not been regenerated since you last pasted it into the plugin settings.
