What is AI Visibility?
How Rankfender asks AI assistants your buyers' questions and measures whether your brand is named, where, in what tone and who is named instead.
AI Visibility answers one question: "When buyers ask AI assistants about your market, are you named — and who is named instead?" Rankfender asks AI assistants the questions your buyers ask, reads every answer and records whether your brand is named, where it appears, in what tone, which sources the assistant used and which competitors it named instead.

How it works
Questions are written for you
At setup, Rankfender writes buyer questions from your topics and buyer types, in your project's language. Most of them do not contain your brand name. You can add your own at any time. See Questions.
An AI check asks them
Each active question goes to each assistant selected for the project: on a schedule (weekly by default) or when you click "Run AI check". See Running AI checks.
Every answer is read
Rankfender looks for your brand and your competitors, notes where your brand appears among the brands named, reads the tone around your name and keeps the sources cited. See Answers.
The results add up on five tabs
Summary, Questions, Answers, Competitors and Content ideas (table below).
The five tabs
| Tab | What it shows | Page |
|---|---|---|
| "Summary" | How often you are named when the question doesn't mention you, who is named instead, and the same by assistant, topic, buyer profile and buying stage. | Summary |
| "Questions" | The questions asked, plus the topics and buyer types they are written from. Add, pause, edit or delete questions. | Questions |
| "Answers" | Every answer, question by question: brands named, your position, tone and sources. | Answers |
| "Competitors" | Share of voice for you and the competitors you track. | Competitors in AI answers |
| "Content ideas" | Article and playbook ideas built from the questions you lose. Professional and up | Content ideas |
Which assistants answer
Note
Rankfender asks up to 8 AI assistants: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, DeepSeek, Grok, Llama and Mistral. How many depends on your plan (Essential 5, Professional 7, Business and Agencies all 8) and on the assistants you select in "Monitoring Settings". Perplexity answers with live web sources.
How Rankfender recognises your brand
A question or an answer counts as naming you only when it contains your full brand name, your domain (for example rankfender.com), the domain without its ending (rankfender), or one of the other names you saved. A single word taken out of a longer name never counts: "Nipo Player" is not matched by "player".
Add the short forms people really use in Settings › Brand Book › "Basic Information", field "Other names of your brand". If you type a word of your market, the field warns you: it would make every question about your market count as naming you. See Basic Information and brand aliases.
Questions with and without your name
AI almost always names you when the question already contains your name, so those answers are kept apart. Your AI visibility is measured on questions that don't mention you: the answers that name you anyway, divided by all answers to those questions. When Rankfender suggests questions, at most about 15 % of them name your brand. Each question carries a "Names you" or "Doesn't name you" tag that you can click to correct.
