Share, copy and download
Share an article by link, copy it into your site editor, or download it as Word or Markdown, and what each format contains.
Three ways take an article out of Rankfender without publishing it: a share link, a copy for your site editor, or a file. Both buttons sit in the Writer toolbar and work once the article is written and not being generated.
Share link
Share opens the "Share Article" window. It shows the article title and a "Share Link" with a Copy button. Under it: "Link expires:" with the date when the link has one, "Share on social media" (X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Facebook) and "Preview Share Page". The window ends with "Anyone with this link can view your article".
- The reader needs no account: the link opens a read-only page of the article.
- Opening Share again on the same article gives the same link.
- An expired or removed link shows "This share link may have expired or been removed."
Copy and download
Download opens a menu with three choices:
| Choice | What you get |
|---|---|
| Copy article | The title and article on your clipboard, as formatted text for visual editors and as Markdown for plain-text fields. The app confirms: "Paste it into your site editor: headings, lists and links come with it." |
| Download Word (.docx) | A Word file named after the title: the title, headings H1 to H3, paragraphs with bold, italic and links, bullet and numbered lists. Images and tables are not included. |
| Download Markdown (.md) | A Markdown file: headings, paragraphs, bold and italic, links, lists, quotes, code, simple tables and inline images (as image links). |
The featured image is not part of the text. Save it from the Writer preview if you need it.
Tip
If your browser blocks the clipboard, the app says "Your browser blocked the clipboard. Download the Word file instead."
Other ways out
To send an article straight to your site, use the WordPress plugin or the Modern Web webhook (see Publishing and autopilot). A developer can also pull published articles with the read-only content API.
