Troubleshooting

Payments, credits, plan limits, Google data, the content API, webhooks, publishing, the menu and phones: what the message means.

The problems we see most, what the message means and what to do. If yours is not here, open a ticket.

A payment does not go through

  • "The payment didn't go through. Check the card details or try another card.": the bank declined it. Check the card, or use another one.
  • "Payments are being set up on our side — nothing was charged.": try again a little later.
  • Status Past Due on your plan card: the renewal failed. Email support@rankfender.com to update your card. See Billing and receipts.

I want to change my payment card

  • It can't be changed from the app: email support@rankfender.com and say which card you want to use.

Paid actions stopped working

  • The credits chip in the top bar is at 0, in red: "New AI checks, content and data wait until you top up or your credits renew."
  • Top up from the chip, or wait for the 1st of the month, when plan credits restart. Your data stays visible. See Monthly credits.

I can't add another keyword, project or article

  • You reached a plan limit. Account Settings › Usage shows which one. Remove items, wait for the monthly reset (articles) or move up a plan. See Plan limits.

Traffic or Google numbers are empty

  • These come from Google Search Console, connected in Settings › Integrations on Professional and up. Connect it, then allow time for the first data. See Google.

An AI assistant shows no answers

  • Rankfender asks only the assistants selected in "Monitoring Settings", up to your plan's number (Essential 5, Professional 7, Business and Agencies all 8). An assistant with no answer in the last 14 days shows "No answer since …" in Summary › "By AI assistant"; older answers are kept. See Running AI checks.

The content API answers 401 or 404

  • 401 "API key required": add the X-Rankfender-Key header. 401 "Invalid API key": the key was replaced or mistyped.
  • 404 "Article not found or not published": the article is not published, or belongs to another project. See Content API reference.

"Test Webhook" fails but my endpoint works

  • The test is sent from your browser: your endpoint must allow cross-origin requests (CORS) from app.rankfender.com and answer with a 2xx status.
  • Real deliveries come from Rankfender's servers, so they can work even when the browser test fails. See Push webhook.

A published article did not reach my site

  • "No active integration found. Please configure WordPress or a webhook in Project Settings.": connect WordPress, or save a webhook URL and turn on "Enable Webhook".
  • If WordPress is connected too, the article went to WordPress, not to the webhook.
  • "Webhook returned …": your endpoint answered with an error; the start of its reply is shown. "Article content is empty after sanitization": open the article, save it again, then publish.
  • Articles that fail the quality review are held back by the publish gate. See Publishing and autopilot.
  • New accounts see a shorter menu for their first two weeks. Click "Show all tools" at the bottom of the sidebar to see every page.

"A new version of Rankfender is available"

  • A new version was released. Click "Refresh now" to load it, or "Later" to finish what you are doing first.

Rankfender does not open on my phone

  • Rankfender runs in desktop browsers only; phones show "Desktop Browser Required". Copy the link and open it on a computer.
