Share of Voice

See what percentage of AI responses mention your brand vs. competitors.

What Is Share of Voice?

Share of Voice measures the percentage of AI-generated responses that mention your brand compared to your competitors. It provides a clear, quantitative picture of how much space your brand occupies in AI conversations relative to other players in your market.

How It Is Calculated

The Share of Voice metric is derived through a straightforward three-step process:

  1. Response Collection: All AI responses collected during RAIVE scans are aggregated into a single dataset for the selected time period.
  2. Brand Domain Extraction: Each response is analyzed using the brands_detected field, which contains every brand domain identified in the AI output. This captures both explicit name mentions and URL-based references.
  3. Percentage Calculation: The system calculates each brand's share as a percentage of total brand detections across all responses. If your brand appears in 40 out of 100 total brand detections, your Share of Voice is 40%.

Visualization

Share of Voice is displayed as a pie chart with color-coded segments for each detected brand. Each segment includes the brand icon (when available) and the exact percentage. The chart makes it easy to see at a glance how the competitive landscape is distributed across AI platforms.

Interpreting Your Results

Share of Voice is one of the most actionable metrics in the AI Visibility module. Here is how to read the data:

  • You are leading: If your share is 40% and your main competitor sits at 35%, you are winning the AI visibility battle. AI systems are more likely to recommend your brand in response to relevant queries. Focus on maintaining and extending this lead.
  • An unknown competitor is rising: If you spot an unfamiliar brand at 20% share, you may have an undiscovered competitor gaining ground in AI recommendations. Investigate their content strategy and consider adding them to your tracked competitors list.
  • Your share is shrinking: A declining Share of Voice over time signals that competitors are publishing content that AI systems find more authoritative or relevant. Review the Boost Prompts and Content Ideas sections for strategies to reclaim lost ground.

Correlation with Recommendations

Share of Voice directly correlates with how often AI systems recommend your brand to end users. A higher share means your brand appears in more answers, gets cited more frequently, and is positioned as a go-to solution more often. Tracking this metric over time gives you a leading indicator of how your AI-driven brand authority is evolving.
