What are Templates?

Templates define the structure and format of generated articles. Instead of relying on default structures, you can create custom templates that match your editorial standards.

Built-in Templates

Rankfender includes several pre-built templates:

  • Blog Post: Standard article with introduction, body sections, and conclusion
  • How-To Guide: Step-by-step instructions with numbered sections
  • Comparison: Side-by-side analysis of products or approaches
  • Listicle: Numbered list format (e.g., "10 Best Tools for...")
  • News Article: Timely content with inverted pyramid structure

Creating Custom Templates

  1. Go to Project Settings → Templates
  2. Click "Create Template"
  3. Define the template name and description
  4. Set the article structure (required sections, headings, ordering)
  5. Configure section-level rules (minimum word count, content type per section)
  6. Save the template

Template Options

  • Section Order: Define the sequence of sections
  • Required Sections: Mark sections that must be included
  • Section Instructions: Tell the AI what each section should cover
  • Word Count Targets: Set per-section length guidelines
  • CTA Placement: Define where calls-to-action should appear

Assigning Templates

Templates can be assigned in multiple ways:

  • Default Template: Set a template as the project default
  • Per-Generation: Select a template when manually generating content
  • Autopilot Rules: Assign templates based on content type in Autopilot settings
